This is the final page of our Definitive Guide to Treating Stretch Marks. On previous pages we discussed the treatment options avalible for reducing and eliminating the appearance of stretch marks, as well as the key ingredients and qualities which make an effective topical formulation. On this page we will cover the most effective means of using the topical product you have selected.

Step 1: Treatment Application

Your topical formulation should include its own instructions on how to use – normally we recommended it be applied at least twice daily to affected areas after thoroughly washing and drying of the affected area.

Step 2: Exfoliation

Exfoliating is an important step in the treatment of stretch marks. Exfoliating removes excess skin and the inherent agitation to the area can promote new cell growth and healing. Effective exfoliation can be accomplished using a washcloth, loofah, or body wash containing exfoliating beads. While this process is labeled as “step 2” it should actually be done before the application of topical treatment when possible.

Step 3: Dieting

Adjustments to your diet will not directly result in the fading or removal of stretch marks. However in addition to using an effective topical treatment and exfoliation, dietary improvements can help minimize the recovery time and prevent additional stretch marks from forming. Similar to the topical treatment you want a diet full of moisture and antioxidants. Drink plenty of water and try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible. These steps will add moisture and flexibility to your skin allowing it to stretch more easily and heal more quickly.
